SNAILMAN, HOW LONG BEFORE YOU COME HOME?

'SNAILMAN' BY CHERYL TRAUB ADLER

Yesterday I mentioned the ‘Art In The Forest’ exhibition space, which you’ll get to by going to Constantia Nek and peeling off to the left where the fruit sellers are.

Gets my vote for one of the top art spaces in Cape Town, with a view of Constantia Valley that makes me dizzy.
Funded by the Light from Africa Foundation, this beautiful space is a hub for ceramics, potters and clay therapists. All the work on sale goes to support vulnerable children. Pro bono workshops and lots going on that’s all for social benefit. All good. More than good, it’s wonderful. And so is the current exhibition.
The work of artist Cheryl Traub Adler is now on show in an exhibition called “The Figure Imagined”.
At the exhibition opening on Saturday morning, my eyes settled the painting up above.  I had to do that red sticker thing. I love looking at Snailman’s smiling face, the snail, and whatever else my eyes keep seeing. Cheryl’s work is selling fast but I’m told she’ll be replenishing it as fast as it goes.
Cape Town people, go see. It’s all for a good cause. And seeing the beautiful space at the top of the mountain looking down, was enough to fill me up.
